The Computer Science Department, which was established in 2009 within the Faculty of Science of Dokuz Eylül University, started its teaching activities in the 2012-2013 academic year. With the rich curriculum designed by its experienced academic staff, it is aimed to train computer science experts who can keep up with scientific and technological developments and are ready for working life.

Our vision; To be a respected and leading department at national and international level with its high-level education, original research, creative activities and service to society. Success and professionalism goals are at the forefront in the education culture.

Our mission is to contribute to the development of society by providing education, research and consultancy activities in line with the aims of the University and the Faculty. Our main goals are to increase the quality of students, to conduct research on developments in the world of science, and to renew the curriculum.

It is aimed that the graduates of the department, with the knowledge, skills and experience they have gained during their education, will be able to work successfully in the fields of information technologies, software development, research and development, engineering, system and process analysis of organizations in various sectors, as well as having the academic equipment to conduct scientific research in various academic institutions and to continue their professional development with independent studies, and to have the infrastructure to establish pioneering and innovative companies that respond to changing social needs.

The department, which first started its education and training activities in 2012 ÖSYS with MF-1 score and by filling its entire quota of 47 students, filled its entire quota in the following years (2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019); As of 2019, the quota of the department has been increased to 60 students in SAY score type. In addition, 2 quotas are reserved for school first places. Therefore, the total quota is 62 students as of 2019.

In recent years, approximately 20-25 students per year have been coming to our department through horizontal transfer and vertical transfer.

Currently, a total of 251 students are enrolled in the department, 27 of whom are enrolled in the English preparatory school. In addition, the number of graduates of the department in 2016, 2017 and 2018 was 13, 17 and 17, respectively, and 47 students in total.

The Computer Science Master’s Program started education in 30% English in the 2014-2015 academic year within the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences of the University. It gave its first graduates in 2017 and continues to work with our currently enrolled students.

The Computer Science PhD Program started 100% English education in the 2019-2020 academic year within the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences of the University.
